ROSE LENS is a queer-feminist and decolonial place for art about survival and recovery. ROSE LENS is also our name. We are a metaphysico-speculative coalescence of immaterial, material, and human agencies. Recovery is our method, our subject, and our goal. We are survivors, of addiction, depression, sexual violence, hatred. In spite of what we experienced, we have learned that being gentle is the only way forward. We gently defy the social contract of the isolated individual forced to bootstrap under regimes of lonely ego-advancement. We are a performance of solidarity and coalescence. We have chosen performance as our gathering place. Many of us who are invisible desire to exercise concrete influence in the world; the transformative impact of the performer/perceiver relation is elemental to this desire — it reaches to the deepest levels of understanding and sensation and is time-based with a speculative beginning and end filled with a gooey and irreversible marrow of change.
